Meet Dr Navjot Brar
Dr Navjot Brar graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School in 2015. She attained her Specialist Qualifications in General Practice from the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2020. Dr Nav has served a number of communities around Queensland – from Hervey Bay to Goondiwindi. She has worked as an afterhours doctor, and she has provided care to people in Indigenous clinics and nursing home facilities.
Originally from Canada, Dr Nav has always had a close relationship with her family physician. This inspired her to pursue a career in General Practice. She now enjoys following her own patients’ health journeys. She enjoys all aspects of General Practice and is particularly drawn to Women’s Health (including pregnancy care and contraceptive medicine), Children’s health, Teenage and Adolescent health, Skin Cancer Care, Geriatrics and Mental Health.
Dr Nav believes that good medicine involves preventing illness, which is why she is proactive in encouraging screening programs and the utilization of chronic disease care plans. Dr Nav takes the time to get to know her patients and provide care tailored to their individual needs. Dr Nav enjoys keeping up to date with current evidence based medical practice. She believes that sharing this medical knowledge empowers everyone to live healthier and happier lives. In the spirit of sharing knowledge, Dr Nav frequently takes on medical students. In 2024, she was nominated for the University of Queensland’s Teacher of the Year prize.
In her spare time, Dr Nav enjoys spending time with her family. When she isn’t attending ballet rehearsals or changing nappies, you’ll find her watching trashy reality TV. Married at First Sight is her guilty viewing pleasure and she’s happy to talk about it at any time.
Dr Nav is able to provide care in English and Punjabi.
