Physical Examination
Comprehensive Physical Examination in Pallara
When You Might Need a Full Medical
A comprehensive physical examination gives a clear picture of your overall health. People often need one for a new job, sport, study, insurance or a fitness program, while others simply want a thorough check-up. At Pallara Medical, our GPs carry out physical examinations and complete the forms you need.
If your examination is for a driver licence, see our driver licence medicals page, as those assessments follow specific transport standards.
What the Examination Covers
Your GP will start with your medical history, current medications, lifestyle and any symptoms. The examination usually includes blood pressure, heart rate, height, weight and body mass index, and checks of your heart, lungs, abdomen, joints and reflexes.
Depending on the purpose, your GP may also check your vision and hearing and test a urine sample. If your employer or insurer asks for specific tests, such as blood tests, your GP will arrange them and include the results in your report.

Preparing for Your Appointment
Bring any forms from your employer, school, sporting club or insurer, photo identification, your glasses or contact lenses, and a list of your medications. Let reception know what the examination is for when you book, so enough time is set aside.
If you have an ongoing health condition, bring any recent results or specialist letters. This helps your GP complete the paperwork accurately and avoids delays.
Results, Forms and Fees
Your GP will talk with you about the findings at the end of the examination. If anything needs follow-up, such as high blood pressure or an abnormal test, your GP will explain the next steps, which may include further tests or a review appointment.
Medicals required by employers, insurers or other organisations are usually not covered by Medicare, so a fee applies. Ask reception or call 07 3100 7111 for current fees. For workplace drug tests, see urine drug testing.
Using Your Results for Better Health
A physical examination is also a good opportunity to look at your health more broadly. Depending on your age and history, your GP may suggest preventive checks such as cholesterol and blood sugar tests, bowel cancer screening, cervical screening, skin checks or a review of your vaccinations.
If you smoke, drink alcohol or want to change your diet, sleep or activity levels, your GP can talk with you about practical steps and support.
Keeping a copy of your results can be useful for future medicals and helps you track changes over time. See our health checks page for more about preventive care.
If your examination finds something that needs attention, your GP will explain your options clearly and help you plan the next steps. Many issues found early, such as raised blood pressure, can be managed well with simple changes and regular reviews.
